Before it's too late Harold the dog and Chester the cat must find out the truth about the newest pet in the household.  Bring your imaginations as we meet Bunnicula, a vegetable loving rabbit.  Harold, a family dog, tells us the story of Bunnicula's adventures as we investigate the healthy foods Bunnicula craves.  We'll check out some science experiments and learn exactly why the dentist tells us to brush every day.  Bunnicula Jeopardy Game will keep our classroom hopping, as will a special long-eared class visitor.

Using the same software inventors and engineers use to create their 3-dimensional designs, students make their own virtual constructions.  The class uses new cutting edge 3-D technology to print student creations.

Here's an opportunity for a great Summer Read.  The Newberry Award Winner by L.S. Park is the story of a 12-year-old who sneaks into a potter's workshop, accidently destroying some valuable clay creations.  The unexpected twists of the plot make this novel a favorite of young book enthusiasts.

Students prepare for success in middle school by gaining practical organizational experience, developing reading strategies, and learning to use questions as a tool.  Topics include techniques of test-taking, keeping assignments straight, effective note taking and time management.  The class is a MUST for 6th graders facing middle school for the first time and for 7th graders wishing to improve their performance. 

Student learn to analyze literature through reading.  We'll examine setting, point of view and character development such as the author's style and tone.

The course explores two and three dimensional art using Rock, Paper, and Scissors.  Using these three and additional materials, this course explores various two and three dimensional art forms.  Students use rocks to fashion garden creatures, paper to knit or weave, and scissors to create mobiles.  Students create unusual innovations out of "ordinary" objects.

Students build model airplanes (or other vehicles) of their own from kits supplied by SummerGATE.  The class will help students begin or advance their skills in the hobby of model-making.
